AsyncRacing is running as a TestFlight beta on iPhone. It's free, there's nothing to buy, and the numbers you record are yours. Below is a straight account of what works and what doesn't — read it before you install, not after.

What you need
- An iPhone on iOS 17 or later. iPhone-only for now — no iPad layout, no Android.
- A rigid phone mount. The accelerometer reads through the chassis; a phone rolling around a seat reads noise.
- Somewhere legal to run. A drag strip, or private/closed land you have permission to use. Public-road runs stay on your phone and are never scored.
What works today
- Recording a standing pass — 60 ft, 0-60, 1/8, 1/4 with trap speed — and a 60-130 roll.
- Same-air correction of every run to the Motorsports Standard Atmosphere, with an honest ± band rather than a falsely precise number.
- Racing recorded ghosts on the tree, class-gated so a 500 hp car can't line up on a 200 hp one.
- Measured wheel horsepower and torque from the run itself.
- Server-side re-derivation of every submitted run — the app never gets to assert its own numbers.
What doesn't — read this
Capture accuracy is actively being worked on. On some phones and some runs the app has reported times that are clearly wrong — slower than reality, with an impossibly low trap speed. The cause looks like the GPS speed channel degrading rather than the timing math, and there's aSHARE DIAGNOSTIC button on every result screen that exports the raw trace. If a number looks wrong, that export is the single most useful thing you can send. Treat beta numbers as indicative, not as a timeslip.
What we collect
Short version: location and motion only while a capture is armed, never in the background; public-road runs never leave the device; closed-course runs you save are submitted so the server can re-derive and rank them. No ads, no third-party tracking, no data sale. The privacy policy spells out every field.
